June 2 - July 18
8 weeks – 12 years
Each week, students will learn about different organs and systems, explore and investigate the characteristics of what makes them unique. Students will hear from professionals in related fields during our in school field trip experiences. School aged children will also participate in off sight field trips. The program encourages exploration, movement, and creativity, helping children develop a basic understanding of how their bodies work and how to take care of them.
We will begin the summer with an introduction to the theme. Children will explore the basic parts of the human body, including the head, arms, legs, and organs, through songs and interactive activities and learn how each part of the body helps us do things like move, see, and breathe. This week will encourage children to understand the importance of caring for their bodies by eating healthy, staying active, and getting plenty of sleep.
(Important Note: By popular demand! Dad’s & Dodgeball will happen Friday, June 13, 2025, from 9:00-10:30am)
Children will learn about the human brain and its role in helping us think, feel, and move. Through playful activities like matching games and simple brain-themed crafts, they will discover how the brain helps us remember, make choices, and control our actions.
(closed Thursday, June 19 in observation of Juneteenth)
Children will learn about the human skeleton and how bones support and protect our bodies. Through activities like building a "skeleton" and pretending to be different animals with various skeletons, they’ll discover how bones help us move and stay strong. The week also highlights the importance of eating healthy foods like milk and calcium rich foods to keep bones strong and healthy.
This week children will discover how their eyes and ears help them see and hear the world around them through fun, hands-on activities. They will explore how light helps us see and how sound lets us hear by using simple toys and games. The lessons also teach children how to take care of their eyes and ears, by eating carrots and listening to music at safe volumes.
(closed Friday, July 4th in observation of Independence Day)
Children will learn about the heart and lungs and how they work together to keep us healthy and active. Through fun activities like pretending to pump blood or taking deep breaths, we will explore how the heart beats and the lungs breathe. The activities this week also highlight the importance of staying active and breathing deeply to keep both the heart and lungs strong.
Children will learn about the skin and muscles and how they help protect and move our bodies. Through activities like stretching, jumping, and feeling different textures, children will discover how muscles help us move and how skin keeps us safe. The activities this week will emphasize the importance of taking care of our skin and staying active to keep muscles strong.
This week is all about how the digestive system works and how food travels through the body. Through a fun, interactive "food journey" activity, children will see how the stomach, intestines, and other parts of the system help turn food into energy. This week also encourages healthy eating habits by showing how good food helps our bodies feel strong and energized.
