Learning How to Think
6yrs – 12yrs
In our elementary program we integrate the study of all subjects to show how they relate to each other. History, language, math, science, geometry, biology, zoology, and geography are all related, not isolated disciplines, and the children see the subjects in that context. The elementary program uses Dr. Montessori’s dynamic Great Stories to stimulate the imagination of the children and give them a jumping off point for their own exploration and research. The children are able to use concrete materials to demonstrate abstract concepts.
The goal of the elementary program is to educate the whole child, and in addition to the focus on core curriculum subjects, the children learn an appreciation for life and for the larger world around them.
"My daughter is thriving in the Monarch community. We feel like we gained not just a high quality, nurturing school but a whole new group of teachers and friends that feels more like family.”
The elementary child enjoys working with others, welcomes a challenge, and does not shy away from large ideas or concepts. An elementary Montessori curriculum speaks to the needs of children aged six to twelve. The curriculum appeals to the sense of wonder inherent to the child at this age, their capacity to acquire knowledge in a wide variety of curriculum areas, and is the catalyst to enable children to become passionate, life-long learners.
