Nido Program

A Cozy Home Away from Home

8wks – 15mos

The Montessori Nido Community (nido meaning nest in Italian) provides a safe, nurturing relationship between child and adult and the growing sense of the child’s self.

Montessori Nido Community

Within the Nido community, an environment is created in which a child ages eight weeks to about 15 months will learn to:

  1. Sit independently while eating lunch and or snack
  2. Move and use hands purposefully
  3. Crawl and walk confidently
  4. Listen to rich and precise language through the use of books, songs, and more
  5. Explore their environment safely and securely

"The infant in arms has far greater mental energies than are usually imagined."

- Maria Montessori

We work as a team

Once a child can walk independently and becomes ready for new challenges, a transition from infancy to toddler begins. We work as a team along with the parents to put the child on the “toddler” schedule and begin a transition that doesn’t rush the child but allows them to settle into their new community at their own pace.

If you think your child would thrive in a Montessori environment, give us a call or schedule a tour online. We would love for you to visit our school and learn more.
